e.l.f. Lipstick!

e.l.f. finally has real lipstick, not just a full coverage gloss they call a lipstick, but a REAL lipstick. I opened my inbox & was greeted with e.l.f.'s mineral lipstick! Have any of you tried it? I'm curious!

Milani Eyeshadows

I've never tried Milani Eyeshadows before, but after reading good reviews I'm really curious to try some of their stuff. I'd love to try both their regular shadow compacts & their Runway Eyes shadow compacts. For some reason the online stores show more color selection than the Milani website, which is odd. I grabbed product screenshots from the Milani website, which is why the colors I want are actually more than the blocks of color displayed in the images. Anyhoo, don't these look pretty?

Sugar Colors

I just checked out Sugar's website in their makeup section & came across their "Punch Out" eyeshadow palette & their color sticks. These look fun! I'm especially liking the pretty turquoise colors in the palette. Has anyone tried these? Just curious.

Darkest Mahogany Brown

Hi All! Sorry for being MIA. I've been out of town for a few days, helping a friend. Actually, I was hoping that you, my lovely readers, can help me out with my dilemma. You see, I used to love dying my hair with Ultress' Darkest Mahogany Brown haircolor, but since developing allergies I've found that I have trouble with this. What I'm trying to do is find a natural alternative while matching, or at least coming very close to it, the mahogany brown haircolor made by Ultress. Any suggestions?

e.l.f. dark nail colors

This isn't brand new, but I thought I'd share these anyway. I love the look of the new deep colors, I hope they're as pretty in person as they are on the site. Don't they look gorgeous? I want the plum & burgundy especially. They look so pretty!

e.l.f. shimmering facial whip

I've been wanting to try elf's shimmering facial whip for awhile now, but for a little while it looked like they were phasing it out. They weren't restocking colors that had gone out of stock & I was bummed because some of the colors I wanted were gone.

Well here's some happy news, it looks like they're going to keep the facial whip after all! They've restocked the colors I want, so maybe I'll get to try this soon, hopefully. Maybe this is old news, I don't know, but I'm sure happy about it!

Cashmere Set

Ahh, the plush silky-softness, & warmth of cashmere! As a new member of BuzzParadise, I received a beautiful Eric Bompard cashmere gift set, consisting of a hat & a pair of gloves.

My set came in a beautiful turquoise color that just about anyone could wear & it feels sooo soft. Being a low-income, disabled individual, I haven't really had much opportunity to experience cashmere for myself & it's so nice! Eric Bompard's line of cashmere items includes both accessories & clothing.

I also received a catalog with my set, and talk about a beautiful, striking, catalog! Their catalog is very professional. I don't know what regular customers get with their catalog, but mine came with cashmere swatches in a variety of different colors.

When all is said & done, they have beautiful, silky-soft, cashmere items (I love my gift set!), & they put out a very professional catalog. The downside? It's expensive, just as you would expect with cashmere, but it's lovely!

Splash Cosmetics

I've recently discovered a cosmetics company called Splash Cosmetics. Did you know that they make all over face pigments too? These look very interesting & promising, not to mention that at only $5 a pop they're very inexpensive. Has anyone tried these?

L'Oreal's Bare Naturale

Much to my chagrin, I have almost run out of my Bare Minerals makeup, it's almost gone. AAK! What's a girl to do when she's almost out of her favorite foundation & can't afford to buy more? Well, my Mom & I were shopping at Wal-Mart & noticed that L'Oreal's Bare Naturale mineral makeup starter kit was on sale for $25! My Mom nabbed it for me (Thanks Mom!) & I brought it home.

When I first looked at the kit I was wondering why it didn't come with a mineral veil of some sort. So, I was wondering if this stuff would stay on for very long. I needn't have worried, this stuff has good staying power & great coverage too! The blush was also very nice, just a hint of a pinkish glow on the cheeks. I used the built in brushes, but I think next time I'll use my own brushes. All in all a great purchase!

2 Evening Makeup Looks

Note: Foundation & Powder application is considered a given.

Look #1 - Dramatic Eyes

This is my favorite because I always like emphasizing my eyes.

You'll Need:
  • A monochromatic or similar colors eye-shadow quad
(or at least a trio) with a medium shade, a light shade,
& a dark shade (e.l.f.'s brightening eye color quads are great)
  • Blackest Volume & Lengthening Mascara You've Got (L'Oreal's Volume Shocking is perfect for that VaVaVoom effect)
  • Black Eyeliner
  • A subtle blush
  • A neutral (pinky-nude) lipgloss (e.l.f.'s moisture care lipgloss in natural blush is the perfect pinky-nude)
Your Look:
  • Prep your lids (primer or foundation & powder)
  • Cover your entire lid with the medium shade
  • Using dark color, contour on sides & in crease for dramatic depth
  • Using light color, highlight your lid directly in the center
(to draw attention to your eye color)
  • Using light color, highlight your brow bone & the inner corner of your eye
  • Apply your black eyeliner & a coat or 2 of mascara
  • Apply & blend blush on to apples of cheeks
  • Swipe a coat of pinky-nude gloss on your lips & that's it!

Look #2 - Intense Lips
Intense, full lips are always sexy.

You'll Need:
  • A lip brush (e.l.f. has a variety
of brushes & tools to choose from)
  • Tissue to blot
  • An intense shade of lipstick that
goes well with your skin tone
  • A sheer neutral eyeshadow
  • A subtle blush
  • liner & mascara
  • (Optional) lipgloss
Your Look:
  • Prep your lips (whichever way you do it)
  • Using your lip brush, apply a layer of intense lip color
  • Blot with a piece of tissue & apply another layer
  • Repeat, if necessary
  • (Optional) Apply gloss to center of bottom lip then smack
them both together, Now you've got an even fuller pout

  • Apply a sheer wash of neutral color on the eyes
  • Apply & blend blush on to apples of cheeks
  • Apply liner & mascara
  • Using a retractable lip brush, grab some of the lip color, retract the brush & toss it into your bag for touch ups on the go
And there you go, 2 beautiful & dramatic evening makeup looks!

Tip 1: Draw atention to your face & away from
your body with a colorful scarf, it'll do wonders!

Tip 2: Are you built on more stocky lines? Opt
for a monochromatic, or a similar colors color
scheme. This will help to give you a clean, long,
& lean line. Play w/textures to keep it interesting.
Vertical stripes are fine. If you must wear horizontal
stripes, opt for closely spaced narrow stripes. Does
your bust blend into your gut? Try a padded push-up
bra, which can add centimeters, even inches!

Tip 3: What's your body shape? Are you top heavy?
You can visually downplay your bust by wearing
darker colors on top. The opposite is true if you're
bottom heavy (like me).

Tip 4: Color makes a big difference in how you look.
Do you have a rose or blue undertone? You'd look
best in cool colors. If you're yellow or olive, warm tones
are probably best for you. Experiment with colors to
see what works for you. Drape fabrics in various colors
around your neck to see how it looks on you. If you look
sickly or something just doesn't look right, it's not for you.
However, if your face seems lit from within, go for it!

I hope you find these tips helpful, & have fun experimenting!
