Finesse Clean + Simple

I recently had the opportunity to try the shampoo & conditioner from Finesse's new line of hair care products.

First the product statement/claims: The Clean & Simple line contains no sulfates, parabens, dyes or allergens and is 100% gluten-free. Hypoallergenic. Dermatologist Tested.

Ok, I usually take the terms "hypoallergenic" & "dermatologist tested" with a grain of salt, but I was really curious to try this since I have severe chemical/fragrance sensitivities.

The Good
  • I had no allergy issues with this product which is HUGE. Because there have been shampoos that I've used & loved before that still caused mild iritation, but I had no issues with this. This does contain a mild fragrance, which usually is an issue with me, but I was fine with this.
  • My hair felt clean & was "somewhat" manageable. (Explanation below).

  • Those with normal to oily hair will appreciate the very light conditioner.
The Bad
  • I usually like my shampoo to have a rich, luxurious lather & I didn't get that with this. However, my hair was cleansed well, so I guess that's not that big of a deal, lol.
  • My hair being "somewhat" manageable is no fault of the product. I simply have dry hair & what I was sent is for normal hair. So, while I was able to work with my hair, it was a tad more difficult than normal. I had to use a lot of conditioner to make my hair workable.

Overall, I like the fact that I had no allergy issues with it. My only real qualm is that I wished it had a richer lather. I feel that the manageableness, or lack thereof, had to do with having a different hair type than what the product is made for.

Have any of you, my readers, tried it? What did you think? Let me know in the comments! :)

These products were sent to me by a PR rep of the company. I did not pay for them. This in no way effects my opinions.

RetroChic Shampooing Potion

I was given the opportunity to try an item from the RetroChic line of products by BeautyChoice.com. They sent me the RetroChic Shampooing Potion for review. The claim is that it's "superior for restoring damaged hair, locking-in color, and providing lasting protection against the drying effects of harsh sunlight and chemical environments".

Well, I tried the product & while it worked ok, it didn't work as nicely as my regular shampoo. My hair isn't as soft or as shiny as it is when I use my regular shampoo. It did seem to keep tangles down to a minimum, which is a good thing, but honestly, other than that, I'm unimpressed. Plus, I really don't like the smell. I'm bummed because I really wanted to like this.

The ZannClip

I was recently given the opportunity to to try the ZannClip (Thanks Suzanne!).

Oh if only these had been around when I had long hair!

Because of the top coil of the barrette & the fact that it comes in 3 sizes, it can automatically adjust to the thickness of your hair w/o pinching, pulling, or yanking. It is also very versatile.

Besides the traditional ponytail you can create a variety of stylish updos as well. Overall, I think this is a very ingenious idea & I mourn the fact that this wasn't around when I had long hair. What trouble it would've saved me! I heartily recommend this product for purchase.

Renee Furterer Structuring Mousse

Have you ever used a styling product that, to your dismay, made your hair look like a horse spit in it? Well, while I have, I certainly hope that none of you have had to deal with that. With that vision of horror in mind (lol!), I have been fortunate enough to try something I actually like (Thanks BeautyVice!), Renee Furterer's Structuring Mousse. Banler.com - Rene Furterer Styling Wax

Once again, I will be reviewing a product I received from Banler.com. Today I'll be reviewing Rene Furterer's Styling Wax. I have to say, I've tried different means of styling my hair. I've tried hairspray, gel, mousse, etc. However, using these, especially hairspray, left my hair hard, without much movement. Hairspray left it downright crunchy, Ew!

I like the styling wax, because it lets you style & sculpt your hair without making it crunchy or hard as a rock. You just warm a little bit between your fingers & apply. So, not only does your hair have movement, the wax ads shine as well.

I have some good news for my readers. StyleBell.com, the e-commerce site for everything haircare & hair styling, is offering DivaShop readers $10 off every $100 or more. Just enter promo code Style10 during checkout.
